Andrea Geiger, MSc | R&D Scientist and Companion Animal Nutritionist
Mark Twain once said, “The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.” As someone who has always had a passion for animals, I couldn’t agree with him more. Maybe it was this philosophy that prompted me to pursue a career in animal science and veterinary field. I began my education with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience from which I graduated into a Master of Science in Veterinary Nutrition and Toxicology. During my time as a graduate student, I got the opportunity to develop my passion for the pet food industry by designing pet food research and to learn how nutrition relates to cardiovascular function. Getting to work with eight dogs and cats everyday, who loved eating the food I created, was definitely the highlight of my project.
Kabo was one of the pet food brands I came across as a graduate student. I gained an appreciation for the level of quality diets that Kabo produces and the idea of human grade, fresh cooked food. Because if certain food ingredients are good enough for us, why not our pets as well! I knew that this was a company I could work with and by combining my skills, produce outstanding pet food that is uniquely Canadian.
