Our Food

What is fresh food?

Fresh means you're always getting a new batch of food for your dog, made from only high quality ingredients. Kabo excludes all artificial preservatives, additives, and fillers that are found in commercial kibble and canned dog foods.

How is your food made?

Our meals are made fresh every single week. We use all natural ingredients sourced from local suppliers, and cook the food at low temperatures to lock in all of the important nutrients your dog needs to thrive. Once cooked, we package each customized portion into vacuum sealed bags and freeze them before shipping them right to your doorstep.
Our recipes are also formulated to meet and exceed AAFCO standards.

What are the benefits to feeding my dog fresh food?

Our customers have noticed better digestion, better poops, nicer coats, increased vitality, stronger immunity, healthier eyes, and more after feeding their dogs fresh food. However, please keep in mind these effects will vary by dog.

Can my dog eat your food if they have pancreatitis?

Dogs with pancreatitis are sensitive to fat in their diet. Our chicken and turkey diet contains low fat protein sources. Although Kabo diets have been recommended by veterinarians for dog's with various conditions it's important for you to consult your dog's primary health care provider.

Is your food raw?

Our diets are not raw, but fresh-cooked, similar to the meals you cook for yourself at home. Cooking food reduces the chance of potentially harmful bacteria that cause food poisoning and also aids in digestion. We also offer fresh kibble, made to the high standards we have of our dog food.

Can my puppy eat your food?

Yes! Our diets are formulated to meet all life stages, this includes puppies. Puppies require more protein, fat and certain vitamins/minerals than adult dogs do so we calculate the right portion size for each stage of life. Puppies need these extra nutrients to assist them during this rapid stage of growth, for healthy development of their body and the increased metabolism they have at this stage in their life.

Can my senior dog eat your food?

Yes! We would suggest the Kabo chicken recipe for senior dogs, to help with weight maintenance in their old age.

How do you develop your food?

We work with pet nutritionists to carefully develop recipes that are healthy and balanced for dogs of all life stages.

Can't I just cook at home?

It is not recommended, as home-cooked diets are often nutritionally deficient. Our diets are specially formulated and balanced to make sure dog’s are receiving all the right levels of the required nutrients.

Why do your recipes contain vegetables?

Contrary to popular belief, dogs are actually omnivores and not carnivores. Just like humans, they require a certain amount of plants in their diet. Vegetables are a good source of vitamins and fibre for dogs.

Storage and Feeding

How should I store the cooked food?

Each of our pre-portioned packs contains the exact amount of food your dog needs each day. We recommend that you keep 2 packs (2 days worth of food) in your refrigerator at all times to ensure that you always have enough food defrosted for your hungry pup! Keep the rest of the packs in your freezer. Every time you finish a pack, just grab another one from your freezer and put in your refrigerator to replace the one your dog just ate.

Accidentally forgot to defrost enough food for the day? No problem! Just put some warm or room-temperature (not hot!) water in a bowl and submerge an unopened pack of food for 5-10 minutes. Once the food is soft and malleable, it’s ready to eat!

How long does the cooked food stay good for?

We vacuum seal our food so that it can stay fresher longer. Even though Kabo food won’t expire for up to 6 months, we recommend that you use the food within 4 months of receiving it. Make sure to keep the food frozen while it’s being stored! Only move the food to your refrigerator 1-2 days before feeding it to your dog.
