The key to a happy tummy is by eating digestible foods. Kabo uses ingredients that are highly bioavailable to dogs and therefore more digestible. This is because it is lower in resistant fibre and higher in moisture and available nutrients. Higher digestibility equates to a greater accessibility of nutrients and a higher rate of absorption in the gut. Chances are you’ve heard a lot about the health benefits of omega 3’s. Omega 3 fatty acids come from a class of polyunsaturated lipids that are extremely important for metabolism and daily physiological processes. There are 3 different types of omega 3 fatty acids; alpha linoleic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
Omega 3s are most notably involved with lowering inflammation and playing a role in the structure of cell membranes. As a result they can greatly improve the skin, joint and coat health of dogs. Additionally, omega 3s have been shown to improve cognitive brain function. A diet with polyunsaturated fatty acids could actually prevent dementia in dogs. With these health benefits in mind, we have made sure to supplement our diets with multiple omega sources including flaxseeds, chia seeds, and fish oil.
There are some pet food companies that unfortunately tweak their formulas to include unnecessary ingredients to improve their bottom line. Substituting ingredients like corn meal for actual protein is not the best approach to feeding dogs. With Kabo recipes, meat is always the first ingredient on the list.
