After digging a little deeper, Blue Buffalo announced a recall on their product due to higher levels of Vitamin D than specified. Despite this admission, Blue Buffalo found themselves in another false advertising claim, when their products presented traces of poultry by-product meal, but advertised themselves as never using poultry by-product meal in their food. Blue Buffalo is 1 of 16 dog food companies identified by the FDA as being associated with Canine Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM)

Kabo delivers fresh dog food recipes that are customizable for your dog, pre-portioned, and meets the AAFCO standards. Every pet parent can relate to worrying about the longevity of their pet’s life. Many of the more common health issues are avoidable with the simple solution of diet and exercise. We should pay as much attention to what our dogs eat as we do to what we eat.
While we are appreciative of what Blue Buffalo has attempted to do with the rise of other commercial dog foods, it’s no competition when it comes to Kabo’s customized, fresh, human-grade dog food. Categorizing food by size (similar to Blue Buffalo’s “large breed puppy” food) may confuse pet parents and there are also other factors to consider. Blue Buffalo customers are obligated to choose their dog’s diet based on their 3 main categories (puppy, adult, and senior). Within these categories, they are further categorized by just breed size (for puppies, this includes products like “Small Breed Puppy Chicken Recipe” or “Large Breed Puppy Chicken Recipe”).
Where Blue Buffalo lacks clarity and transparency, Kabo certainly makes up for it. Kabo customizes your dog’s diet by weight, breed, activity level, sensitivities, etc with a customized transition plan! It’s important to note that not one diet fits all breeds, categorizing diets based on breed or size is not the best way in supporting dogs who are, for example, a “different sized breed puppy” with stomach sensitivities. Preventative care is one of the many reasons why Kabo designs their diets to focus on factors such as digestibility, palatability, and sensitivities. When Kabo says they’re dedicated to their sole mission of creating happier, healthier, and longer-living dogs, they mean it.
According to the FDA and AMVA (American Veterinary Medical Association), Kabo has never had a recall.
Kabo customizes their meals to the needs of your dog. We ask for information such as activity level, age, breed, etc to determine the appropriate calorie intake needed for a complete and balanced diet. Kabo can cost as low as $2 a day.
Kabo focuses on designing diets that support preventative care. Digestibility, palatability, and stomach sensitivities are all factors Kabo considers with every diet. Kabo also offers different novel protein options for picky eaters or dogs who have food/stomach sensitivities. Similar to humans, dogs enjoy variety in their diet. Variety in diets helps with less allergy development, more water intake, and improved gut health.
