Dachshunds are a hunting breed and were originally bred in Germany 5 centuries ago to hunt badgers. They were selectively bred to have long bodies with stout legs to fit into the underground tunnels of badgers and other rodents.Therefore, doxies naturally require a high amount of energy from their food to function properly. That’s why we add healthy sources of carbohydrates to our Kabo meals.
To meet the energy needs of dachshunds, we use natural carbohydrates. These ingredients include chickpeas, sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, squash, and rice, varying according to the recipe. We don’t use any corn or wheat, which are high in sugars that can increase your dog’s risk of developing diabetes.
Everyone knows that fats are an essential element of a dog’s balanced diet. However, what most people are unaware of is that not all types of fat are beneficial. Additionally, excessive fat can lead to obesity, which results in joint issues in dachshunds.
