Obesity, allergies, and food intolerances are common dietary issues facing Australian shepherds. A high-quality food is vital to keep them at a healthy weight and comfortable. Kabo fresh recipes use human-grade meat protein sources as the 1st ingredient. Quality, digestible proteins along with custom portioning will help keep your Australian shepherd at their ideal  weight- a must for avoiding joint stress and other health complications. 

Parents of Australian shepherds that are allergic to common animal proteins, or looking for a low fat solution, will appreciate the Luscious Lamb recipe. For dogs that are on a grain-free diet, our Savoury Beef variety is an excellent option.

Carbohydrates & Fiber

Australian shepherds require carbohydrates to keep up their high energy levels, and fiber for digestive health. Kabo uses only natural whole sources of carbohydrates such as russet potato, sweet potato, chickpeas, squash and rice- depending on the recipe and formula. We don’t use any fillers, corn or wheat for carbohydrates like many dry dog foods.

With no official guidance from AAFCO on carbohydrates, pet parents can rest assured- we’ve formulated our menus using our in-house animal nutritionists. Kabo only uses nutrient dense produce, all of which serves a different function. Canadian fruits and vegetables including red apples, green beans, carrots, spinach, kale, and broccoli are used in our recipes for fiber and essential vitamins, and minerals such as potassium, vitamins A, C & K, folic acid, iron, and more. 

An Australian shepherd's digestive tract can be notoriously sensitive and prone to inflammation. Our chicken and rice recipe choice is gentle on their stomachs when they're upset. Also, you may notice that after a couple of weeks of feeding Kabo, their loose stool is tighter, more uniform, and they’ll be less gassy too!

Fats

Fats are an essential part of your pup's balanced diet, as it is for humans. But it’s important to give them just the right amount, and the right types. Australian shepherds sometimes experience skin issues including dryness and itchiness. Including Omega fatty acids in their diet supports healthy skin, a beautiful coat, immune function, cardiovascular health, joint health and more.
